Teaching Spanish - Definite Articles

First, the first:


1. The Definite Articles in Spanish are:

El (singular- for masculine nouns ending in -o) / Los (plural- for masculine nouns ending in -os)

Examples:
El perro (the dog)
Los perros (the dogs)


La (singular- for feminine nouns ending in -a) / Las (plural- for feminine nouns ending in -as)

Examples:
La casa (the house)
Las casas (the houses)



2. NOUNS ending in other vowels or in consonants may be either masculine or feminine. So, memorize them. Practice makes perfect.

color (M)
padre (M)
señor (M)
pan (M)
ciudad (F)
noche (F)
madre (F)
luz (F)

calle (F)
